Express News | GSR Commits $100 Million to Co-Develop On-Chain Credit Business Hare with Turtle
On October 7, crypto trading and market-making firm GSR committed $100 million to co-develop Hare, an on-chain credit business, with liquidity distribution platform Turtle. Hare is responsible for creating and managing on-chain vaults. This multi-year commitment is primarily structured as a credit facility. GSR will initially inject its own capital into Hare’s products to provide initial liquidity before external investors enter. Hare will first launch two products based on the Aave lending protocol: Hare USD Earn, which accepts major USD stablecoins through a single vault; and Hare Gold Earn, which allows holders of Paxos’ tokenized gold products, PAXG and PAXGy, to earn yield, with Paxos Labs participating in the gold product collaboration. Vault managers are responsible for allocating assets deposited in smart contracts to lending markets and other strategies. Connor Milner, CEO of Hare, stated that the capital committed by GSR will be deployed directly, enabling issuers to access liquidity from day one, while allowing investors to see GSR’s proprietary funds commingled with their own in the same vault. Hare will focus on assessing collateral, counterparty risk, and the performance of relevant positions under market stress.
