Express News | XRP Ledger surpasses Ethereum in growth rate of tokenized commodities, with year-to-date net inflows reaching $2.2 billion
On October 7, U.Today reported that, according to joint data from Token Terminal and the RWA Foundation for October 2026, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) surpassed Ethereum in market capitalization growth for tokenized commodities. Year-to-date net inflows for XRPL reached $2.2 billion, while Ethereum recorded $1.6 billion, placing it second; Avalanche ranked third with $334.5 million, followed by BNB Chain with $57.5 million. The report attributes this disparity to architectural differences: issuing assets on Ethereum requires writing complex smart contracts and paying uncertain gas fees, whereas XRPL enables the tokenization of real-world assets at the protocol level. Its built-in IOU mechanism reduces costs to less than one cent and settles transactions in just 3–5 seconds. The primary driver was the energy sector, with the tokenized power generation contract JMWH, launched by Latin American company Justoken, contributing the largest share of liquidity.
