On August 17, it was reported that U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded their largest capital outflows since late June last week, reversing the strong inflow momentum seen in early August. According to data compiled by Bloomberg, the 13 U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a combined net outflow of $389.7 million for the week ended August 10, compared with a net inflow of $853.5 million in the previous week. The inflows in the first week of August had marked the highest weekly total since April. This strong performance was previously driven by a rare hacking incident involving a cold wallet brand, which reignited market interest in allocating and custodizing digital assets through traditional financial products.
