Express News | A cryptocurrency holder is suspected of having their private key compromised, resulting in the theft of approximately $25 million. The same entity previously lost $24 million in a phishing attack in 2023.
On August 13, monitoring data from Scam Sniffer indicated that a cryptocurrency holder likely suffered a private key leak, leading to the draining of two wallets within just 15 minutes and a loss of approximately $25 million. Two addresses belonging to the same victim transferred all assets—including DAI, WBTC, aUSDC, LDO, sUSDe, and native ETH—to a new address. Within an hour, the stolen funds were swapped for DAI and ETH: 20 million DAI were transferred to another address, while approximately 3,000 ETH remained in the consolidation address. This incident is suspected to be a private key compromise rather than a standard phishing authorization scam. Notably, this victim's address is the same wallet that lost 4,851 rETH and 9,579 stETH (worth approximately $24 million) in September 2023 after signing a malicious 'increase Allowance' transaction. At that time, the attacker ultimately returned about 90% of the stolen funds.
