On June 17, stablecoin infrastructure company Trace Finance closed a $32 million Series A funding round to expand its stablecoin payments infrastructure platform. The round was led by CoinFund, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Haun Ventures, Jump Capital, Paxos, Chainlink Labs, and HOF Capital. Angel investors participating in the round included Sean Neville, co-founder of Circle; Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana Labs; Bam Azizi, co-founder and CEO of Mesh; and Ricardo Villela Marino, partner and vice chairman of Itaú Unibanco, Latin America’s largest bank.

On April 2, EDX Markets, a cryptocurrency trading platform backed by Charles Schwab, Citadel Securities, and Fidelity, submitted an application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a national trust bank charter. The charter would allow EDX to provide services such as digital asset custody, asset management, and transaction settlement, but would exclude traditional banking activities such as accepting deposits or issuing loans. EDX stated that obtaining this charter would help it better serve institutional clients and gain a competitive edge amid the institutionalization trend within the cryptocurrency sector. Recently, multiple crypto companies, including Ripple, Circle, BitGo, Paxos, and Fidelity Digital Assets, have also applied for similar charters, indicating the industry's accelerated move toward a regulated financial system.
