Express News | Cross-border payment firm Conduit sues Tether, alleging the unjustified freezing of $2.76 million in USDT.
On October 7, cross-border payment firm Conduit Technology disclosed that it had filed a lawsuit against Tether in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on October 5. The complaint alleges that Tether has frozen approximately $2.76 million worth of USDT in Conduit’s treasury wallet since September 2025 and has yet to unfreeze the funds. Conduit stated that while the freeze is related to a Brazilian police investigation into entities such as BULL and Onix, Conduit itself is not a subject of the investigation, nor was its wallet included on the freeze list issued by Brazilian authorities. Instead, Tether proactively identified and froze the wallet based on its own criteria through its T3 Financial Crime Unit. Conduit accuses Tether of conversion, unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, and computer fraud, seeking a court order to unfreeze the funds and claiming damages of at least $2.76 million, plus related losses, interest, and profits.
