Express News | Upbit Adds Zilliqa to Watch List for Trading
On July 22, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit announced that the Zilliqa token (ZIL) has been added to its 'Caution' asset list, affecting the ZIL/KRW and ZIL/BTC trading pairs. According to Upbit, under relevant provisions of South Korea’s Virtual Asset User Protection Act, the platform identified potential security risks—including uninvestigated or unremediated vulnerabilities related to hacking—associated with the ZIL wallet or the distributed ledger infrastructure on which its issuance, transmission, and storage rely. These risks could result in losses for users, prompting the implementation of this risk warning measure. The announcement states that the caution period for ZIL trading will run from July 22, 2026, through the third week of August, specifically August 17–21, 2026. During this review period, Upbit will assess the associated risks in accordance with its policy on termination of trading support and may extend the observation period, lift the caution status, or terminate trading support entirely. Additionally, deposit and withdrawal services for ZIL have already been suspended. Upbit indicated that if services are reinstated in the future, withdrawal functionality will be prioritized for restoration, while the resumption of deposit services will be communicated separately based on the outcome of subsequent reviews. Currently, any new deposits will not be credited and will be refunded.
