Express News | Liquid releases urgent update Elements v23.3.4 to fix proof verification cache vulnerability
On September 10, the Liquid Network released an emergency version, Elements v23.3.4. Functional nodes are being upgraded immediately, and all Liquid node operators are advised to update synchronously. This version fixes a proof verification cache vulnerability by strengthening the cache keys used for range proofs, thereby enhancing security. It has undergone multiple rounds of internal and external reviews by teams such as the Bitcoin Red Team and Alpen Labs. The Liquid Network also announced a preliminary recovery plan: first, resume block production while peg-in/peg-out operations remain suspended; subsequently, re-execute transactions that have been verified as valid; and finally, restore peg-in/peg-out operations once the network status is fully restored and fund refunds are completed. Blockstream is currently testing the first two phases in parallel, and the specific sequence and implementation methods may be adjusted based on test results. The Liquid Network further warns that scammers have taken the opportunity to set up fake update websites. Users should refer only to official channels from the Liquid Network and Blockstream, and must not transfer funds or disclose private keys or seed phrases to unknown parties.

Express News | HPC Submits Amicus Brief Supporting Dismissal of CME’s Lawsuit Against the CFTC, Arguing That the Litigation Could Hinder Innovation in U.S. Perpetual Futures
On September 10, the Hyperliquid Policy Center (HPC) filed an amicus curiae brief urging the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to dismiss the lawsuit brought by CME Group against the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The brief was submitted with representation by Elizabeth Prelogar, former U.S. Solicitor General and partner at Cooley LLP. In May of this year, the CFTC approved Kalshi’s listing of Bitcoin perpetual contracts as futures products on regulated U.S. trading platforms and confirmed that other U.S. derivatives exchanges could also launch similar digital asset contracts. CME subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn these decisions. HPC argues that CME cannot demonstrate actual harm resulting from the CFTC’s decision and therefore lacks standing under Article III of the U.S. Constitution. Furthermore, the Commodity Exchange Act is designed to promote responsible innovation and fair competition among exchanges; CME’s interest in preventing competitors from launching new products does not fall within the scope of protection afforded by this law. HPC stated that the outcome of this case could also impact the entry of perpetual contracts and on-chain markets such as Hyperliquid into the U.S. regulatory framework.
