The Hang Seng Index and Hang Seng Tech Index fell nearly 1%, with technology stocks collectively declining. Baidu rose 2% against the trend, while CK Hutchison Holdings surged over 4%.
Affected by the escalation of tensions between the US and Iran, Hong Kong stocks opened lower and closed weaker, with the Hang Seng Index falling by 0.76% and the Hang Seng Tech Index declining by 0.94%. Sector performance was mixed, with security and liquor stocks showing resilience while technology stocks generally fell; Baidu, however, rose by 2%. Regarding individual stocks, CATL surged nearly 4%, and CK Hutchison climbed over 4% after announcing a plan to sell its UK telecom business, booking a gain of HKD 4.7 billion. Tianxing Medical Technology soared over 118% on its first day of listing.
