OpenAI has launched the public beta of its Agents API, opening up the underlying infrastructure of Codex to developers.
OpenAI has officially opened public beta access to its Agents API for external developers. This API supports the agent frameworks for Codex and the enterprise version of ChatGPT, delivered via programming interfaces, with billing based solely on token usage and tool call volume. Core capabilities include automatic context compression, parallel tool invocation, and multi-agent collaboration, enabling the creation of production-grade agents in a single API call.
OpenAI has launched a data agent that transforms enterprise data into analytics and dashboards with a single prompt, but has not disclosed accuracy benchmarks.
With the new agents in ChatGPT Work, users no longer need to write SQL queries or manually consolidate multiple data sources. They can simply pose questions in natural language, enabling the agent to connect to authorized enterprise data and documents, investigate data changes, generate analyses and interactive dashboards, and execute follow-up actions upon user approval. The absence of accuracy benchmarks means that enterprises lack independent, quantifiable, and publicly available metrics to assess how accurately the agents respond.

AI laboratories such as OpenAI and Anthropic are lobbying S&P and Moody's to secure a BBB- investment-grade credit rating, akin to that of Oracle, in order to broaden their financing channels. However, the financial profiles of these entities differ significantly: while AI labs boast valuations nearing $1 trillion, they continue to incur losses, whereas Oracle maintains stable profitability but carries a debt burden of $168 billion. Rating agencies face a dilemma: overly lenient standards would underestimate risk, while excessively stringent criteria could draw criticism for being outdated.
