Budweiser Brewing Co. APAC Stock Slides 1.8% in Hong Kong
Hang Seng Index gains strength, but a near-term pause is feared; defensive stocks such as Budweiser APAC warrant attention.
Following a nearly 450-point drop in the Hang Seng Index (HSI) last Friday, the market rebounded on Monday (July 20), surging 580 points to close at 25,143—the highest closing level since June 5—and reclaiming both the 50-day moving average and the 25,000 mark. As of that day, the HSI had gained over 2,200 points in July, leaving it less than 40 points short of fully recovering its June losses, a ‘July turnaround’ that surprised the market favorably. However, the index has not yet closed above the 25,000 level for two consecutive trading days or more, indicating that consolidation above this threshold will require further confirmation. Notably, since June 4, the index reached an intraday high of 25,499 only on that day, already the highest level during this period.
