Research Report Insights | CICC: Credit repair policies are beneficial to domestic banks, expected to drive new lending in consumer loans, mortgages, and other personal credit products.
CICC issued a report stating that the People's Bank of China released the 'Notice on the Arrangements for Implementing a One-Time Credit Repair Policy.' The policy applies to personal overdue information with a single amount below RMB 10,000 between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2025. Borrowers who fully repay their debts by March 31, 2026, will be exempt from having this information displayed in their credit reports. CICC noted that under financial policies aimed at boosting domestic demand, this measure eliminates specific credit default records affected by factors such as the pandemic, helping individuals with impaired credit histories but possessing both repayment capacity and willingness to improve their personal credit standing. Indirectly, it stimulates consumer spending and financing needs for business operations, thereby further expanding domestic demand within the financial sector.
