Express News | Caixin News Midday Digest – August 10
Kwok Si Chi: The broader market has fallen below both the 250-day and 10-day moving averages amid volatility.
Patrick Kwok, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Analysts, stated that the market has now approached mid-August, and as of the time of writing, the market’s pattern for this month has so far been characterized by an initial rise followed by a decline. The Hang Seng Index has temporarily fallen from its intra-month high of 26,187 points on the 4th to an intra-month low of 25,389 points on the 6th, representing a current monthly range of 798 points. Firstly, this 798-point range remains relatively narrow and is insufficient to fulfill the typical requirements for a full month’s volatility. Moreover, it is unusual for both the monthly high and low to occur within just three trading days. Therefore, a significantly wider price swing is expected during the remaining trading days of the month, which would expand the range to meet typical monthly volatility expectations and further separate the intra-month high and low.
CICC: The A-share market's recovery rally is still expected to continue, and the trend of upward movement with volatility remains intact.
CICC stated that the market recovery since July 20 is still expected to continue, and in the medium term, the upward trend of China's A-share market since September 24 remains intact.
