The company's predecessor was China Marine Helicopter Professional Company. It is a national general airline established in March 1983 to promote offshore oil development and general aviation development. It was decided by the Executive Meeting of the State Council and approved by the former State Economic Commission and Planning Commission. The company was restructured as a joint stock company in February 1999, issued shares in July 2000 and listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The company abbreviation is “CITIC Haizhi” and the stock code is “000099.” It is currently the first and only company listed on the main board in China's general aviation industry under the CITIC Group.
