Financing deals drop from 30 to 9: The surgical robotics boom is over, who will survive?
Three years ago, capital was chasing investment opportunities; today, many investors are unwilling to even review projects. The number of financing deals in China’s surgical robotics sector has dropped from approximately 30 in 2021 to just nine in 2024. Meanwhile, a contrasting scene is emerging in the industry heading into 2026: Zhenjiankang Medical has listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, while companies such as Shurui Robotics and Huake Jingzhun continue their push toward the capital markets. On the surface, this appears to be an IPO boom, but behind the scenes, it resembles more of a survival race to “secure time and cash.” Surgical robotics have not suddenly lost their value. What has truly ended is the era when “simply building a robot could command a high valuation.”
