Gelonghui, July 13 | Asian energy stocks rose in line with oil prices following renewed airstrikes over the weekend between the U.S. and Iran and conflicting statements from both sides regarding vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Australia's Woodside rose 1.4%, Santos gained 1.6%, Japan’s Inpex Corp. climbed 1.7%, and South Korea’s S-Oil surged 5.8%.

Sharp rebound. On the previous day's NY crude oil market, WTI futures for August delivery rose 5.3%, providing a tailwind for oil-related stocks such as the company. Reports indicated that the U.S. Treasury Department plans to revoke waivers allowing countries to purchase Iranian crude following attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, and media also reported that an LNG tanker from Qatar was attacked by Iran. The United States has announced it has commenced a new series of strikes against Iran—the first since late last month.
