Trip.com Group Limited (HKEX: 09961) announced that, regarding the recent controversy over a customer receiving only RMB 432 in refund for a canceled international flight ticket originally priced at RMB 15,000 (hereinafter “RMB”), the company takes the matter very seriously. The platform completed special protective measures on Tuesday (28th) and compensated the customer RMB 14,727 for the loss incurred from the ticket cancellation. The company emphasized that this final refund outcome does not represent an adjustment to its general ticket cancellation policy, nor is it an exceptional favor granted by the platform; rather, it is a standardized case handled strictly in accordance with Trip.com’s Sixfold Service Guarantee. Furthermore, in response to the pain point highlighted by this incident—namely, insufficient clarity in information disclosure—Trip.com will further enhance its risk notification mechanism by providing clearer alerts based on airline-specific cancellation policies when booking.
