China's automotive market underwent a deep adjustment in the first half of 2026. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), domestic passenger vehicle retail sales reached 8.701 million units in the first half, down 20.2% year-on-year. Looking at June alone, narrow-definition passenger vehicle retail sales totaled 1.602 million units, a 23.2% year-on-year decline—marking the lowest June sales figure compared to the same month over the past four years. Meanwhile, the industry-wide price war, ongoing for several years, shows no signs of abating. Based on the latest data, the automotive sector’s profit margin stood at 3.4% for January–May 2026, reflecting persistent downward pressure on profitability. Automakers are now forced to make difficult trade-offs between sales volume and profit margins. This sense of anxiety across the industry has begun to spread to capital markets.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued a public consultation on compatibility requirements for 5G+Industrial Internet scenarios in the automotive manufacturing sector.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that, pursuant to the industry standards development and revision plan, relevant standardization technical committees have completed the drafting of 70 telecommunications industry standards, including "Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements and Measurement Methods for Communication Equipment in 5G+Industrial Internet Scenarios – Part 8: Automotive Manufacturing Industry," and are now releasing them for public comment. The consultation period runs from July 11 to August 9.
