The market stance has shifted from profit-taking dominance to a focus on buying on dips.
[Opening Comments on Stock Market] The Japanese stock market on the 8th is likely to shift from a profit-taking stance to one of buying on dips. On the 7th, the U.S. market saw the NY Dow fall by 313 points and the Nasdaq drop by 32 points. Higher interest rates driven by rising inflation expectations from the NY Fed weighed on sentiment, while fading hopes for an end to hostilities between the U.S. and Iran prompted position-adjusting selling. The CME Nikkei 225 futures contract was 900 yen lower than Osaka at 62,230 yen. The yen exchange rate stood at 156.9 yen per dollar.
