[Opening Comments on Stock Trading] The Japanese stock market on the 12th is expected to start with buying but may subsequently enter a phase of stalemate. On the 11th, the U.S. market saw the NY Dow fall by 66 dollars and Nasdaq decline by 36 points. While there were moments of buying due to the better-than-expected U.S. employment report for January, the market reversed into a downturn after early buying subsided, as expectations for an early additional rate cut diminished, leading to a rise in interest rates. Selling pressure on software stocks also weighed down the market. The Chicago Nikkei 225 futures were 555 yen higher compared to Osaka.
Honda's operating profit for the third quarter fell by 48.1% to 59.15 billion yen.
