The Vietnamese Prime Minister urged an acceleration in the transition to electric vehicles to reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged ministries and local governments to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, develop charging infrastructure, and promote the use of biofuels to reduce reliance on imported petroleum products and ensure national energy security. The global situation remains volatile, with recent military conflicts and geopolitical tensions causing disruptions in the international supply of oil, natural gas, and coal, posing an increasingly severe threat to the energy security of many countries, including Vietnam. Pham Minh Chinh requested that the Vietnamese Ministry of Trade review the conditions for advancing the implementation of the roadmap to transition to the biofuel E10 next month. Pham Minh Chinh also instructed officials to consider measures in manufacturing, energy, and transportation.
