U.S. stock markets declined. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down $695.15 at 50,866.78, while the Nasdaq ended the session 1,121.53 points lower at 25,709.43. After opening lower on sell-offs triggered by concerns over a potential Fed rate hike later this year—following the release of May employment data that underscored the strength of the labor market—the indices turned lower. In particular, the Nasdaq was weighed down not only by expectations of higher interest rates but also by continued weakness from semiconductor giant Broadcom (AVGO), as well as by the upcoming initial public offering of space‑venture SpaceX.
