ECB Commissioner Stournaras urges central banks to be cautious about surging inflation
ECB Governing Council member Yannis Stournaras said that as the central bank prepares for next week's policy decisions, the soaring inflation rate in the Eurozone should not be overinterpreted. “According to most estimates, the recent surge in inflation is due to temporary factors which are related to the many supply-side bottlenecks caused by the pandemic,” he said. “Wage changes and unit labor costs, which determine the core inflation rate, do not show the same volatility as the overall inflation rate,” he said. “Therefore, based on this evidence, I would like to suggest that we be cautious when judging the direction of inflation relative to the medium-term target

According to NIO, 5,880 vehicles were delivered in August, an increase of 48.3% over the previous year. As of August 31, 2021, the cumulative delivery volume of ES8, ES6 and EC6 vehicles reached 13,1408. NIO said it will carefully adjust the delivery outlook for the third quarter of 2021 to 22,500 to 23,500 vehicles due to supply chain restrictions. After announcing the August delivery data, NIO Auto declined before the market, having previously risen 1.3%.

Most investors have accepted inflation as evidence of economic growth. But not everyone thinks so. At one point, Nissan's share price plunged by nearly 12%. The results and forecasts were disappointing.
Auto shares tumbled nearly 12 per cent in early trading on Wednesday, the biggest intraday drop since July last year, after the company reported disappointing results for fiscal 2020 and below market expectations. Nissan reported on Tuesday that its operating loss for the 2020 fiscal year to the end of March widened to 150.65 billion yen from 40 billion yen a year earlier. The company expects results for the current fiscal year to break even, far below the average analyst forecast of 133 billion yen. Makoto Uchida, CEO of Nissan, said he expected the shortage of chips to affect today.
DuPont fell 1.6% and Q4's profit and revenue were better than expected.
DuPont reported quarterly earnings of 95 cents a share, 6 cents higher than expected. The industrial materials maker's revenue also exceeded Wall Street expectations. Demand for smartphone materials is particularly strong, and the company has also benefited from a rebound in car sales.
