Mercedes denies claims to prevent US factories from forming trade unions
GLONGHUI, May 8 | Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday refuted claims that it was trying to prevent the Alabama plant from forming a union. Mercedes-Benz board member Renata Jungo Bruengger said at the annual shareholders' meeting that the group “respects employees' decisions to form a trade union organization and will monitor the election process to ensure that every team member has the opportunity to vote by secret ballot.” The American Auto Workers Union (UAW), the largest auto union in the US, said that about 5,000 workers will vote next week to decide whether to set up a union at the Mercedes plant in Vance, Alabama.
