Prices to Double Again! Korean Media Reports: Samsung Electronics Projects a 100% Increase in NAND Prices for Q2
Samsung Electronics increased NAND prices by 100% in the first quarter, and this latest 100% hike means that NAND supply prices have cumulatively risen threefold since the end of last year. According to Seoul Economic News, the AI-driven boom cycle, coupled with production cuts on the supply side (with a shift in focus to HBM), has led to a continued shortage of NAND. In addition to Samsung, other manufacturers such as SK Hynix and Kioxia are also preparing to follow suit with price increases.
CITIC Securities: Continued optimism regarding stronger-than-expected storage demand, with supply shortages expected to persist until the first half of 2027.
Since February, Kioxia's earnings and guidance have exceeded expectations, NAND flash contract prices for the first quarter have increased, and domestic module manufacturer Biwin Storage announced better-than-expected performance results for January-February, further confirming that the memory industry remains in a strong upturn.
