Samsung SDI is considering building a battery factory in Illinois.
Samsung SDI, a subsidiary of South Korea's Samsung Group, is considering building a battery factory in central Illinois, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin revealed on Thursday. Samsung SDI is discussing building a battery factory in Normal, Illinois, Durbin said. Rivian, an electric car start-up backed by Amazon.Com Inc and Ford, now has a factory in Normal and said in April that Samsung SDI would supply batteries for its cars. "We are competing for a large battery factory at Samsung," Durbin said on Thursday. A delegation came from South Korea this week.
