United Parcel Service (UPS.US) will offer a voluntary separation plan to full-time drivers in the United States, facing opposition from the union.
According to foreign reports, American delivery giant United Parcel Service (UPS.US) will offer a voluntary departure program to its full-time drivers in the U.S. as part of its largest network restructuring in history. The company's statement indicated that the voluntary departure program does not include retirement benefits such as pensions and medical coverage. The company announced this reorganization in April, which includes cutting 20,000 jobs and closing 73 facilities. Previously, its major customer Amazon (AMZN.US) reduced delivery volumes, and U.S. President Trump also implemented tariff policies. The Teamsters union, representing around 330,000 workers, was the first to disclose the plan, criticizing it for violating the national contract as the company did in the contract.
