On May 20, China's three major stock indices moved in mixed directions: the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.18% to close at 4,162 points, the Shenzhen Component Index closed flat, the ChiNext Price Index rose 0.34%, and the STAR Market 50 Index surged 3.2% to a record high. Total market turnover amounted to RMB 2.98 trillion, an increase of RMB 67.5 billion from the previous trading day, with more than 3,800 stocks declining. In market highlights, Yangtze Memory Technologies and ChangXin Technologies—China’s leading domestic memory chipmakers—advanced toward IPOs, driving gains in semiconductor and memory chip sectors; fluorochemical stocks were active, while photolithography equipment, optical components, inverters, and organic silicon segments also posted notable gains.
